Five compelling reasons for putting your trust in Jane

Trusting Jane

1. An authentic 1940s act

Increasingly, the lines between the 1940s and the 50s & 60s are becoming blurred. Even some established 1940s events, perhaps without realising, are taking on a more vintage feel. Nothing fundamentally wrong with that, of course, but when you book Lancashire Belle, you get exactly what you will have been expecting - an authentic 1940s performer.

Fabulous entertainment. It was lovely to listen to Jane sing and completed the 1940s vibe. We loved that she captured the true essence of entertaining the forces.

2. A consumate entertainer

As a professional 1940s performer Jane isn't content simply to stand behind a microphone and sing nice songs - although obviously she can if required (and is very good at it, too!). Engaging with the audience is the first rule for any entertainer - and with her stage background and experience as a performer, Jane is highly accomplished at entertaining her audience.

Jane was fantastic. A great selection of songs, brilliantly performed.

3. A voice you can trust

As a 1940s performer, Jane enjoys a deserved reputation for the quality of her voice. It's the reason why when BBC Radio Five needed a 1940s singer they could trust for a VE Day commemoration broadcast live, the corporation chose Jane. It's also why so many 1940s events and venues turn to Jane year after year, knowing they are booking a quality act.

We called on Jane to perform live on our special programme on BBC Radio 5Live, which marked 70 years since VE Day. Her music really lifted the programme. She has a beautifully warm and smooth voice, and was a pleasure to have around. I would definitely recommend Jane for any 1940s themed events.

4. Versatile and fabulous

Jane can draw on an extensive repertoire of songs, performing in authentic 1940s costume or  WAAF or ENSA uniform. She performs songs from the Home Front, or music to dance to - or to take you on a nostalgic journey. Even then it's NOT just about singing a song - it's feeling it, interpreting it, delivering the subtleties and nuances of its meaning. It's that ability and appreciation which sets Jane apart.

5. Creating a spectacle

Jane doesn't simply sing for herself - she performs to an audience. And she is quite happy to share the limelight (although not her microphone!) - no more so than when dancers join her. In turn, many dancers will make a beeline to where Jane is performing, knowing that she will rightly give them their share of the applause. And because Jane doesn't need to take to the stage with a pre-prepared set - or indeed work her own music - she can slip effortlessly into the material that suits the moment. And where it's appropriate to do so, Jane enjoys involving the audience or audience members in the show, able to call on a number of routines to keep the crowds happily  entertained.

4A Very good 2

Having spent a fabulous day at Woodhall Spa, Jane, you were absolutely fabulous and the dancers were equally fantastic.

Many singers know the words and many know the tune but very few can capture and hold a song like Jane. We all enjoyed her singing; and, judging by the crowd around, we were not alone. When she sang we could relax knowing the songs we love would be sung beautifully. A wonderfully entertaining day.
